MICHAEL GROHMAN
Chief Operations Officer
Michael Grohman brings over three decades of distinguished military and professional experience to the Big Country Veterans Board. He transitioned into the organziation as the Chief Operations Officer in 2025. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Michael served 27 years in special operations, retiring as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. His exemplary service includes multiple deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Horn of Africa, earning him numerous commendations including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star with Valor, Navy Commendation with Valor, and Purple Heart.
As a retired Special Operations Independent Duty Corpsman Master Chief, Michael's service spanned various elite units including Marine Special Operations Commands, Navy Special Warfare, and Joint Special Operations Command. Following his military career, he continued his service to the nation working with the Department of State before transitioning to private healthcare and later the oil and gas industry in Texas.
Michael's journey with Big Country Veterans began when he participated in one of their events. He was immediately struck by the organization's unique and impactful approach to veteran support. After volunteering for two years, he was invited to join the board, where he now serves as Treasurer. As the only veteran on the board, Michael brings valuable firsthand perspective to BCV's mission and has been instrumental in initiatives like the service dog program.
His vision for Big Country Veterans extends beyond local impact – he aims to grow the organization's reach across the country, focusing on providing resources that create lasting positive changes in veterans' lives. Michael's leadership philosophy, "If it's not hard, it's probably not worth doing," reflects his commitment to taking on meaningful challenges that truly benefit the veteran community.
Michael deeply values the civilian supporters of BCV, noting that their selfless service to veterans makes them part of the extended military family. His continued dedication to serving fellow veterans through Big Country Veterans demonstrates his enduring commitment to the military community he proudly served for nearly three decades
