MATT MACIULA
Board Member
Matt Maciula brings 15 years of diverse financial and operational experience to Big Country Veterans' Board of Directors, where he serves as Chair of the Finance Committee. His professional journey spans from working with independent operators in the Permian Basin to holding key positions within ExxonMobil Corporation's Corporate Controllers Department. Currently, Matt is the founder of SquareRoots Energy, focusing on mineral and working interest acquisitions across major U.S. oil and gas basins.
A lifelong admirer of combat veterans, Matt's connection to the military community stems from a deep-rooted fascination with service members' stories and sacrifices. His enthusiasm for supporting veterans, combined with his strategic business acumen, allows him to make prudent decisions that advance BCV's mission while ensuring organizational sustainability.
His experience in both small and corporate settings has honed his ability to navigate projects of varying scales, balancing aggressive opportunities with conservative decision-making when necessary. As a new board member, he is focused on thoroughly understanding the organization's landscape while developing initiatives to support Gold Star families.
"It's a privilege and an honor to serve a community and mission supporting veterans who have sacrificed so much," Matt says. Drawing inspiration from the parable of the lost sheep, he believes that making a profound impact on even one veteran's life can create meaningful change.
When not serving BCV's mission, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, engaging in outdoor activities, and serving at his church. He also dedicates time to coaching youth sports, believing in the importance of positive male role models for younger generations.
Matt lives by two core principles: "You never get a second chance to make a first impression" and "Leave it better than you found it" – philosophies that guide both his professional endeavors and his commitment to supporting America's veterans.
